veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkarim, has expressed disappointment with the way some young entertainers show utter disrespect to their ‘elders’ in the entertainment industry. He cited implicitly, the case of Davido, who dedicated at least two hit tracks to insult an ‘elder statesman’ in the entertainment industry, Chief Dele Momodu.
He also criticised the music many of them were making, describing their songs as ‘noise’.He also revealed that he was dropping a new album soon.
“If you look at my music and check the industry, none of them is singing the same kind of songs I’m singing. All of them are busy singing about boobs, babes booty and all. I don’t have time for things like that, I’m talking about ills in the society… That’s what makes us different, we’re conscious human beings. People are tired of noise on air. They wanna listen to real music and we have to make it happen. we are actually watching all of them that knows that we fought for this industry. Without us, these bomboclat idiots won’t make the money they are making. Where una papa dey when cold dey catch una for London? Did the British government give you the opportunity to make that money? We made it all happen so y’all came back home to make money so show some fuc*ing respect for us.
“Let me see anyone of you disrecpect Dele Momodu or Baba Keke again if dem born una papa well or even Ayo Animashaun or Kwameh. Una dey mad,” he told Planet T.V.
He then switched his attention to 2face, whom he accused of allowing fame get into his head. He also mocked the ‘African Queen’ crooner’s failed attempt to lead a national protest.
He said, “The other day, 2face go dey disrespect Daddy Showkey. You for tell Daddy Showkey say you no dey come studio. Who you be? You dey mad? You don forget say na Blackface write all your hit songs? Or who send you to go put your hand for protest wey you no know anything about? You’re not an activist. Waka Wiki MC’s I no tell you say you no be plantations? I no tell you make you no let am get into your head?
“Nigga wake up mehn. All the good guys wey dey around you, you pursue all of them finish. Odogwu dem wey dey show you love… why, wetin happen?
“You con still go dey start the protest. You con think say you go fit do am alone, you don forget say what you do basically is love songs, dey impregnate people dey go. You be my friend na, me and you know where e dey. Don’t take Nigerians for a ride.
“I’ve lived my life for it, I was not called for events because I sang Nigeria jaga jaga. I’ve been vindicated, maybe you should have written a song.”
